RHYTHM WORKSHOP

Description

This 3-hour rhythm workshop will give you everything you need to become a master of rhythm and bring your saxophone playing to levels you never thought possible.


This is a workshop open to all saxophone players of all ages, levels, and styles.

No matter how good (or bad) you think your rhythm is there is always something you can do to improve.


The workshop will be led by professional drummer/percussionist and expert workshop leader James Taylor.


And who is better than a drummer to help you with your timing and rhythm?


A workshop full of vital information for saxophonists of all abilities looking to take their playing to a high level.


The workshop is limited to 20 participants only.


No drumming experience is required.

SAXOPHONE ENSEMBLE

Description

 

In this Saxophone Ensemble Course you will acquire fundamental skills necessary to play in a large musical setting. Improve your sight-reading and intonation, refine your sense of rhythm, understand the funny gestures conductors make. Relax with other fellow musicians after work and enjoy weekly rehearsals in a non-judgmental environment. We are a great bunch and rehearsals are always a fun evening.

What will I learn?

 

Sight-Reading – You will play a lot of new music in these two days. We will look at techniques to make your sight-reading more agile. Pieces are divided in levels so we’ve got you covered no matter your level of technique.
Sound  – Learn how to effortlessly have a greater sound. We will go through methods for improving embouchure and the most common problems students have and how to resolve them.
Intonation – Develop greater ears by improving your sense of intonation and methods for accurate practice.
Rhythm – A professional drummer will run a rhythm workshop to help you understand methods and tricks to stay in tempo while you play.
Anatomy – We will briefly touch on the anatomy of the respiratory system to understand how to breath in the best possible way when playing.
Performance anxiety – We will look at simple techniques of visualization to help you prepare for public performance and deliver the best performance you can give.
