Requirements: Grade 4/5
Ages: no age restriction
Duration: full day
Time: 9.30am – 4pm
Venue: Clementi House – Notting Hill
An improviser is a composer who composes on the spot.
This full day workshop will teach you the fundamentals of improvisation and will clarify doubts you might have on the theory side while making it practical- chord symbols (e.g. Cmay#11) chord types ( Major, Minor, Diminished, Augmented), scales (Major & Minor).
Whether you want to improvise in the language of jazz or any other style you need a certain degree of knowledge and technique to be able to say what you want.
Same as learning a new language: first you learn few words here and there with little connection between them.
As you accumulate more words you start to build phrases and say more complex concepts.
“Master your instrument, master the music then forget all that and just play” – Charlie Parker
